The second annual Festival of Clowns is here!
On June 21st through 24th clowns, mimes, bouffons, physical comedians and
other performers from across Canada unite to provoke, disturb and treat you
with that mysterious and delightful art form known as clowning. Getting to
the heart of human struggles, theatrical clowning examines universal themes
such as stereotype, prejudice, love, loss, race and religion with satire,
parody, a wink and a nudge.
Now in our second year the festival is being held at the Pia Bouman School
for Ballet and Creative Movement deep in the heart of Queen Street West's
arts crawl. The festival features full length clown and character shows, as
well as cabaret shows with short clown turns, circus acts and even
Krumping - a form of dance that originated from hip-hop clowning. There
will be a BBQ, roving clowns, face painting, clown workshops, a clown short
film festival and a midnight mock panel deconstructing the horror clown
genre at the fabulouso wine and cheese bar CAFE TASTE.
There's really something for everyone.
Pass it on,
Pass it on,
Pass it on.
Can't wait to see you all there with or without your noses on!
