| CeltFest 2007 Summer School and Concert Series July 7-13, Vancouver Island, Canada We are now up and accepting registrations for the 7th Pacific Institute of Piping & Celtic Performing Arts Summer School and Concert, aka CeltFest 2007! For those of you checking our site regularly we have been updating the registration form to reflect, among other things, the following changes this year:
- **Early bird discounts** for tuition to
registrations received on or before May 7th.
- Enhanced discounted rates
for resort accommodation. We will be happy to arrange “shared” accommodation for those wishing to share cabins or suites.
- NEW:
“Gaelic Day”: a special one day event open to anyone to experience and participate in Gaelic language & song
- For
dancers attending Nationals/InterProv Championships back east, we will prorate your fees to attend the school starting later in the week.

- A Kickoff Ceilidh
featuring a sampler of Instructor and student talent, complete with appy’s and adult libations in our region’s “newest/refurbished oldest” restaurant, check out Basque Restaurant, downtown Nanaimo, Saturday Night July 7th. Seating limited; to reserve call: (250) 754-7354.
- Student
performances staged every evening Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the Parksville Community Centre. Tuesday night is our famous “Wacky Jig& Hornpipe Contest”….a “must see!” A “family pub” atmosphere complete with concession for food and drink. Admission is free; donation appreciated at the door.
- The concert series
ends in the exciting outdoor Sunset & Stars Gala Concert on Thursday, July 12th at Nanaimo’s Port Theatre. It will present over 30 star performers and faculty members. Featured this year are such luminaries as Michael Flatley’s lead understudy in Riverdance, Irish Dancer Glenn Simpson, will join one of Cape Breton’s most outstanding Celtic bands, Beòlach. A few of the other featured stars will be the World Champion Highland Dancer David Wilton of Scotland returning by popular demand, Highland Piper Ken Eller, Canada’s bard Eileen McGann, Uilleann Piper Aidan O’Brien of the UK, BC’s Celtic Harper-Singer Wendy Humphreys Tebbutt supported by the high energy CeltFest pipers, drummers and dancers. The event sold out last year and the theatre swelled with ovation after ovation. Tickets are on sale now and going quickly at the Port Theatre’s Box Office at (250) 754-8550.
