February finds Headlines touring BC with Meth

Check out the full itinerary at: http://www.headlinestheatre.com/Meth/tour.htm
15 Communities have participated in the Meth
project so far, with great attendance at every performance. It seems
like the word is literally spreading throughout the province and we
have been inundated by enough requests to organi
ze a second 30 community tour! The feedback we are receiving has been
very positive.
Please don't miss the show in the nearest community...

Theatre for Living Training Workshop in Winnipeg
David
will facilitate a three-day training workshop focused on Cops in the
Head and Rainbow of Desire, two exercises that use the life experience
of people in the room to investigate the complexities of a given issue.

In Cops in the Head, we
explore the internal voices - the "Cops" inside of us - that give us
bad advice and prevent us from achieving our goals. In Rainbow of Desire, we explore the internal voices that complicate both sides of a relationship and stop us from achieving our goals.
When: May 23 to 25, 2007 9am-5pm Cost: $200. If you are interested but unable to pay $200, please contact Daniel (204) 952-3734 and Loc (204) 298-1980 or actnowtheatre@gmail.com

Headlines' 2007 THEATRE FOR LIVING Training Workshops
A valuable toolkit for artists, activists, social workers and educators
Our

tool to incite social transformation. The techniques will help you to
work with the living community to help it tell its stories and work
towards community healing. Headlines has applied these techniques to
interdisciplinary work, personal development, anti-racism and
anti-violence work, environmental action and to the education and
counselling fields.
Register now, the sessions fill up well in advance!

Raise the Rates Campaign: http://www.raisetherates.org
In
2002, the BC government introduced new welfare policies that
significantly reduced income assistance and increased the barriers to
getting assistance. These changes have led to suffering and hardship
for those in need. The Raise the Rates Coalition urges the provincial
government to reduce poverty by improving the welfare system and
raising the minimum wage. Raise the rates campaign is focusing on three
principal areas:
Welfare Rates, Raise welfare rates by 50% and index them to inflation; Barriers to Accessing Welfare, Remove the arbitrary barriers to accessing welfare and Minimum Wage,
RTRC wants the Provincial Government to Raise the minimum wage to
$10/hour and abolish the $6 training wage. If you want to join the
campaign go to: http://www.raisetherates.org

Thanks
for ongoing operational support: The Canada Council; BC Gaming
Commission; City of Vancouver, BC Arts Council; the Melusine Foundation.
